Wholecrop is harvested using a self-propelled silage harvester which has a head similar to a maize head, so that it can cut and take in cereal plants without grain loss. At the point of harvest an additive is applied to the material which helps ferment the wholecrop to a level where maximum quality is maintained in the clamp and also maintain the stability of the clamp face at feed out.
